Measuring your ring size at home often leads to inaccurate results, no matter which method you use. To avoid future exchanges, I highly recommend using a professional sizing tool.
Since finger size can change throughout the day, once you've determined your size, I recommend wearing the ring separately from the band at different times—preferably in the morning and evening, and possibly even at night.
This will help you get a better sense of the right fit, as your fingers may slightly expand or shrink depending on the time of day.
